Ticket terms
Effective from 20 October 2026
These terms apply to registration, the ballot and the purchase of Hljómey tickets through hljomey.is. By entering the ballot you accept the terms. The sale is governed by Icelandic law. In case of discrepancy the Icelandic version prevails.
1. Seller
KGBS ehf., ID no. 630625-1300, Vestmannabraut 11, 900 Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. Email: hljomey@hljomey.is · Phone: +354 849 1826. The seller is not registered for VAT and does not charge VAT.
2. Registration
Tickets are sold through registration and a ballot. While registration is open, each person may register once and choose a number of tickets up to the stated maximum.
The same email address or phone number can only be registered once per ballot. Hljómey may cancel entries clearly made to get around this rule, e.g. several entries by the same person under different names.
Registration is free and is not binding until tickets have been paid for.
3. The ballot
When registration closes, the system places all valid entries in a random order using cryptographically secure random numbers. Tickets are allocated in that order until they run out. It makes no difference when during the period you registered.
Guests from previous years get one extra entry in the hat, i.e. double weight in the ballot. A previous guest is someone who bought a ticket for an earlier Hljómey with the same email address or phone number used to register. There is one extra entry, however many times the person has attended.
Hljómey allocates up to 50 tickets per festival outside the ballot, including to hosts, artists, volunteers and partners. These tickets are set aside before the draw and are paid for like other tickets.
If the remaining tickets are not enough for the number requested by the next entry, that entry is offered the tickets available. They can pay for those tickets or decline them, in which case they go to the next in line. They do not keep their place in line for the rest.
Everyone who registered receives an email with the result: winners with a payment link, others with information about the waiting list.
4. Payment and deadline
Winners receive a personal payment link and must pay within the deadline stated in the email. Payment is made by card on the secure Rapyd payment page.
If payment is not made within the deadline, the right to the tickets lapses and they go to the next people on the waiting list, in the order drawn.
Until payment, a winner can reduce the number of tickets or cancel on their ticket page. Tickets given up go straight to the next people on the waiting list and the number cannot be increased again. While registration is open, the number can be changed freely within the limit.
The purchase is binding once payment has been received. The buyer receives a ticket code by email and on the ticket page.
5. Tickets and wristbands
Each purchased ticket has its own QR code, valid for one wristband. The code is shown at the wristband pick-up at Hljómey. The buyer can send individual tickets on from their ticket page. The wristband gives access to the festival concerts as long as there is room in each house.
The buyer may give tickets to others, but resale above the price paid is not permitted. Hljómey may cancel tickets that have been resold at a profit.
Each code is valid once only and is marked as used when a wristband is handed out. A copy or screenshot of a code that has already been used does not give a wristband. The buyer is responsible for keeping the codes private and only giving them to the people who will use them.
6. Right of withdrawal
Hljómey tickets are a purchase of leisure services provided on a specific date. Under point l of Article 18 of Act no. 16/2016 on Consumer Contracts, the 14-day right of withdrawal therefore does not apply to ticket purchases.
If the buyer cannot attend, they may give the tickets to someone else (see above) or contact hljomey@hljomey.is. Hljómey will then try its best to pass the tickets to the next people on the waiting list and refund, but is not obliged to do so.
7. Changes and cancellation
The programme, artists and houses may change. Such changes do not give a right to a refund.
If the festival is cancelled in its entirety, buyers receive a full refund of the ticket price. If it is postponed, tickets are valid on the new date, but the buyer may request a refund if they cannot attend.
8. Disputes and personal data
In case of a dispute the buyer may turn to the Complaints Committee for Goods and Services (Kærunefnd vöru- og þjónustukaupa) or the Consumer Agency (Neytendastofa). These terms are governed by Icelandic law and any action shall be brought before the District Court of South Iceland, unless the law gives the consumer the right to another venue.
