Explore BarnaHljómey →Hljómey is a music festival where homes and businesses in the Westman Islands open their living rooms to musicians and guests. Each concert lasts half an hour. Guests choose their own route through town and show their wristbands at the door, and most artists play twice during the evening, each time in a different house.
The first Hljómey was held in 2023. The festival has grown steadily since, and around 530 guests came in 2026. Around the main night there is also Hljómey Xtra, a special event on the Saturday night when we find something great, and BarnaHljómey, free entertainment for children in partnership with Vestmannaeyjabær, at midday on Hljómey day itself.
We light up one window at a time as the artists are announced.
